Another Cool Thing I Discovered Over Break

Here's the other thing I was trying to think of last night but couldn't -- mostly cause I was watching LSU whoop up on OSU. Go SEC!!!

Freecycle. High Plains City has quite the active Freecycle group -- I've already gotten the FULL SET of Hardy Boys Mysteries. They're in the trunk of my car. I don't know exactly what I'm going to do with them, but . . . I still have them.

Hey, you Bad Ass Turtle. ;) It's Heather (aka - Ms. Strout - please use the former?). Thank you, thank you for the book titles and the poetry ideas. Both prompt ideas would be super-user-friendly for workshop purposes (where time is of the essence). I also see from exploring your blog that you are a Taylor Mali fan. He is one of my favorites (along with Naomi Shihab Nye and Rumi and a bunch of others)! I use many of his poems in my classroom, including "Seventh Grade Viking Warrior," "Falling in Love is Like Owning a Dog," and "Silver-Lined Heart." I would love to see him live someday. I actually e-mailed his agents two years ago in an effort to arrange a performance at my school (I think I may have pleaded - it was probably pretty pathetic), but he was on his honeymoon at the time. What-EVER. ;) Anyway, it was lovely to see his name shining from your page. Thanks again. You're awesome!

I just wandered over here from AT's blog...and I have to ask: which "High Plains City" do you live in? Would it, perchance, be the one that serves as the home to Raiderland?

And...by the way...I LOVE the story about how you got your name!! That's a scream!!

Ms. H -- Thanks for visiting! I tried to find your blog to leave a comment but couldn't -- the blogger page you used to have said you had moved to wordpress, and I couldn't find you there. 8-(

Not the same High Plains City, though Raiderland is close to my home town...

Sorry about the confusion!! I had set it up to link to the new blog, but it went bonkers. (Shocker!)

I moved to wordpress a few months back. Feel free to stop by: moldingyoungminds.wordpress.com

I'm originally from a itty-bitty town in the Panhandle, and I went to college at Tech.

It's a small world, huh?

*grin*
