Um, no.

Yesterday I got an email from a student in my online class. "I had a really busy week," this student states, "and I didn't realize that the online discussion and quiz wouldn't be available on Sunday. Could you open them for me so I could access them?"

Um, no. See the previous post containing the "F" word.

I'm dropping by from NaComLeaMo.

Some people have all sorts of entitlement issues, don't they? How horrible of you to not accomodate this poor student with the busy life!

If this is how they are as students, they will have a scary time in the real world!

Good for you to sticking to the timeline!

Hey Dr. Bad Ass!

Just returning the comment from NaCom. Dogs are awesome, and excellent hiking buddies! I have hiked almost every trail in the LA area with mine. (Short, half-day hikes, though...)

Speaking of thru-hiking, I followed along as one guy blogged his thru-hike from Key West to Springer Mountain recently. He had done the rest of the AT previously. http://www.floridatrail2008.com/ If you're interested... I thought it was cool :)

Ha! Awesome.

I wanted to comment on the fact that you hiked the Appalachian Trail. Wow. I finished reading "A Walk In The Woods" by Bill Bryson (for the 2nd time) recently and damn, I know that you must be, indeed, a bad ass. :)

I look forward to reading more of your blog.

Hi, visiting via NaComLeavMo!

Dear student of Dr. Bad Ass,

I have an entirely busy semester and didn't realize I had idiots that couldn't read the syllabus for students. Sorry but no.

Dr. Bad Ass :)

Yeah, I would have a hard time being civil if I received that kind of shit. I'd do something like this:

Dear Stu,

No.

Best,

RV

Here from NaComLeavMo and am intrigued by your blog! I have a Ph.D. in pharmacology and teach now, and students sometimes drive me up a freaking wall with their requests. They learn pretty quickly with me that I give deadlines and stick to them. Or they fail my class. One of the two.

Here from NaComLeaMo. I'm a grad student and frequent TA, and holy cow undergrads today make ridiculous requests. We've had 10 this semester alone ask to reschedule exams because they don't have time to study. Seriously.
